The CCB congratulates Prof Sharad Kumar on being awarded The Australia and New Zealand Society for Cell and Developmental Biology (ANZSCDB) President's Medal.
In 2002, the ANZSCDB inaugurated a special award to recognise excellence in the fields of Cell and Developmental Biology. The award consists of a pure silver medal to be presented annually at COMBIO, the combined meeting of the ANZSCDB, the Australian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Australian Society of Plant Scientists. The awarding of the Medal is accompanied by a Plenary lecture from the recipient at the annual COMBIO conference.
Professor Kumar’s work has made seminal contributions to understanding how programmed cell death is regulated in cancer and ageing and how cell signalling pathways are controlled by a type of protein modification known as ubiquitination.
