CCB's Genetics and Molecular Pathology Team (GMP) were recognised as a finalist at the Premier's Excellence Awards in December 2018. GMP’s successful integrated research and diagnostic services harness advances in “genomics” technology to directly improve the lives of South Australians. This laboratory has developed novel technological breakthroughs which are being adopted by other health agencies in Australia and overseas. This has led to the identification of new cancer genes, better targeted treatment of patients with cancer, the development of diagnostic tests for sick children and new reproductive options for couples who have lost babies.
